Love birds, caged!

Doesn’t matter whether it is a plant or an infant or a building, it is always a joy to see the growing something every day. The joy multiplies if the thing we care has lost its normal and we are trying to set it right. After spending all of your efforts on an almost dead plant, you can imagine your joy on seeing the first leaf on it. She was less than a week old when we got her rescued from the bush. The first bird in our home that I remember was a green parrot(?). Initially, my dad fed her with the banana and gave water using ink fillers and she had survived those featherless days. Later, she was eating from our plates without any restriction and moving freely without any limits. She was with us for more than a year, with a few clipped wing feathers. She would spend most of her morning to evening time at the small guava tree we had. And would return to her cage in the evening.

Is it cruel to keep birds in a cage? We see birds in the Zoo. Maybe, the size of the cage matters. Maybe, the environment provided matters. Yes, helping the injured or abandoned birds is a great act. But keeping them in the cage for our joy is not great. The birds are there to fly. When you go to a park or a farm or a lake, take some time to watch birds flying and playing. The way the glide, hovering, soaring, the way they land, the way they fight, and the hundreds of other things they do will surely mesmerise you. The more you watch them the more you know how many things that these caged birds miss. They miss the very core of their natural life.

Once you get a bird caged, it is hard to convince yourself to let it go. The cat will catch or the larger bird will kill or it won’t find food and so on but eventually, you can find that the Creation is mysteriously powerful enough to take care of everything in this universe. I am even convinced that the extinction of species is also fine, including that of humans.

If you got the guts, open your cages. You will understand that your kid is capable of learning something else. Your friend is needed somewhere else as well. Your thought can be dropped to give a space for a new one. Enjoy the birds flying because that is the way of showing your true care.
